
Americana/country band Laura Jean Band (formerly Laura and the Killed Men) will release their first album under the new band name on December 15th at Club Congress.
The 11-track album, titled "Shadow Ridge," covers genre ground from porch-style folk to country and southern rock, and ends in a not-so-festive Christmas tune. Local musician and former KXCI director Cathy Rivers and her band will open the evening, and the Laura Jean Band will play through the entirety of the new album, adding some surprises along the way.
The Laura Jean Band is led by Laura Kepner-Adney on guitar and vocals, with Robin Hanshaw on bass, Julius Schlosburg on drums, and Clay Koweek on pedal steel and lead guitar. The group in its current personnel has been together since early 2023. All the songs on the new album are by Kepner-Adney, a first for her after many collaborative releases.
